About the author

Bryan has been making up stories for 

as long as he can remember. To him, sci-fi and

fantasy have always been the best entertainment

for a boy growing up in rural Arkansas.  

A visit with Bryan

My name is Bryan L. Cates and I am originally from Pocahontas, Arkansas but currently reside in Jonesboro, Arkansas with my fiancé and her daughter. I have a son and a daughter who, along with most of my other family, live in the Northeast Arkansas area. I am a 1987 graduate of Pocahontas High School. Immediately after graduating high school, I spent 3 years in the Army and was stationed in Korea for approximately 16 months. After being honorably discharged from the Army, I joined the Arkansas National Guard and was a member of that for 10 years. I am currently a journeyman electrician in the state of Arkansas and have been in this field for about 19 years. I enjoy camping, hiking, collecting coins, shooting pool and playing Dungeons and Dragons. I also like seeing and taking pictures of haunted looking places.

I have enjoyed writing short stories since I was a young child. After several years of playing Dungeons and Dragons, I had many story ideas going through my head. About 7 years ago I finally decided to put pencil to paper and write a book. This book is the first in what will eventually be a series of three books. This year I decided to go for my dream and try to get the book published. With the awesome support team that I have around me and the great team at Palmetto Publishing, that dream has come true!
